Captains Blog July 19

Hi all,

Firstly I would like to start off with some great news, I have been in contact with our insurers and explained the changes we have made to the 9th hole to minimise the risk of golf balls going into Armestos business and as from this Wednesday the 31st July the 9th will stay open as a par 4.

During the month July we had the mixed and ladies foursomes championships. The winners were Bridget Griffin and Shane Eastell and Andrea Campbell and Cathy Stone congratulations to all the winners.

Tomorrow we have the Elgin Valley Legends Pro am with 67 senior professional golfers playing including Peter Senior and Mike Harwood. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors and a big thanks to the Elks family who are the major sponsor again along with their continued wonderful support of the club.

The ground staff have been working very hard to get the course in the best possible condition with a 3am start tomorrow morning to get everything mowed before the first group so a massive thank you to the guys.

I would like to thank Geoff Williamson for looking after the competitions and presentations while I was away on 2 weeks holiday.

A big congratulations goes to Micheal Warry and Sam Mckenzie for taking out the “cock of the walk” 4BBB matchplay final against Matt Nganeko and Adam Purvis on the 19th hole. The competition was a great success and gave golfers of all ages and abilities to meet and play with one another.

Lastly the last month has been a little rocky but I can assure all members we now have a united team including staff and management committee to keep improving the club.
