Time to tackle a Rule or two!

 

Knowing the correct names, definitions will help.

A Water Hazard is one bordered by Yellow Stakes

A Lateral Water Hazard is one bordered by Red Stakes

 

Water hazard (Yellow Staked)

  1. Play the ball from where the last shot was played.
  2. Drop a ball any distance behind the water hazard

keeping a straight line between the hole, the point where the ball

last crossed the margin (crossing point) of the water hazard and the

spot on which you are going to drop the ball.

 

Lateral Water hazard (Red Staked)

  1. Play the ball from where the last shot was played.
  2. Drop a ball any distance behind the water hazard

keeping a straight line between the hole, the point where the ball

last crossed the margin (crossing point) of the water hazard and the

spot on which you are going to drop the ball.

  1. Drop the ball within two club lengths from where the ball last crossed

the margin (crossing point) of the hazard.

  1. Drop the ball within two club lengths on the opposite side of the

hazard no closer to the hole than the actual crossing point.
